In Kyiv, among other things, Marin took part in a funeral for a Ukrainian soldier, she visited the military hospital in Kyiv, and she met schoolchildren in Irpin.
– The school students I met today will live in a Ukraine that belongs to the EU, said Marin. She further said that Finland will stand by Ukraine’s side as long as it is needed, says a press release from the Finnish government.

The visit took place on the same day that Finland announced that it would give Ukraine a total of 29 million euros in aid for humanitarian purposes and development cooperation, corresponding to over NOK 327 million.
The money will go towards education and the immediate and long-term needs for the environment and nuclear safety in Ukraine. The aid package is part of the additional funding of 70 million euros, which was provided by the Finnish government to Ukraine last year.
