Sam Bennett hopes to be able to play as hard in the Vuelta as he did before in the Tour de France. But has he changed nationality since then? After all, the jersey number that the organization assigned him today shows a Belgian flag.
“Did I miss a meeting here somewhere?” Bennett wonders. “I was absolutely certain that I was Irish.”
Perhaps an understandable mistake for the Vuelta, because Bennett not only rides for a Belgian team, but was also born in Belgium, especially in Menen.
