Actor Will Smith (54) has written himself into the history books in recent years after his somewhat unfortunate outburst during the Oscars in 2022.
The actor hit comedian Chris Rock (59) on stage after he joked about the diagnosis of his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith (50). Afterwards, it became known that he was banned from the award for a full ten years.
Fear of career
In the wake of the incident, Smith has stated that he was “terrified” that his career would be ruined by the incident that took place at the awards show, and in a post on Instagram, the 54-year-old broke down and apologized deeply to Rock.

– During the last few months, I have thought a lot and worked a lot on myself. You have asked many fair questions that I intend to spend some time answering. I have contacted Chris and the message that came back is that he is not ready to talk. When he is, he will contact me. I want to tell you, Chris, I’m sorry. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here when you’re ready to talk, was among what he wrote in his post.
Successful family
Smith was long considered one of Hollywood’s most recognized actors, and has several major roles to his credit. The children Willow (23) and Jaden (25) have also followed in their famous parents’ footsteps, and have built up careers in the film and entertainment industry.
Jaden got his big break in the relaunch of “Karate Kid”, while Willow has released several big hit songs. She is perhaps best known for the song “Whip My Hair”, which she released as a ten-year-old in 2010.

Although the parents have paved the way for the children to have careers in the entertainment industry, Smith admits that the children have not been at all happy that their parents pushed them into the limelight at such a young age, writes Australian News.

In Kevin Hart’s (44) talk show, “Hart to Hart”, an open-hearted Smith eases the veil, and tells that the family was almost disintegrating when it was at its worst.
– 2010 was the best year as an artist and as a parent. Karate Kid came out in June, “Whip my hair” came out in October. My dream has always been to pave the way for my children, and do a better job than my father did with me… but the children were unhappy with the choice. They didn’t want to be in the limelight like that.

– No one in the family was happy. Willow was probably the first to make me understand that success and money were not synonymous with being happy. Up until that point, I truly believed that you could find your way to happiness by achieving success… but material circumstances do not equal happiness, and in many cases that can be the reason for not being happy.

Daughter Willow has previously admitted that it took a couple of years to forgive her father’s behavior in her early teens.
In 2018, she opened up about the complicated father-daughter relationship they had, after she released the hit song “Whip My Hair” as a ten-year-old.

There, she also admitted that she shaved her head in the middle of the “Whip My Hair” tour to send a jab in her father’s direction – because she didn’t want to finish the tour, and thought she would be let off the hook if she rebelled, but it didn’t have that effect as she wished.
