The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially condemned the behavior of Will Smith, who slapped Chris Rock at this year’s Oscars. She also announced that she would formally investigate the matter and draw the consequences.

During the Oscars ceremony on the night of Sunday to Monday it took place incidentin which Chris Rock and Will Smith. The actor hit the face with the open hand of the presenting nominees and the winner of the comedian, and then in vulgar words shouted at Rock for joking about the appearance of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock joked about Smith’s haircut, which he has struggled with for years alopecia areata.

Later, receiving the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in King Richard: The Victorious Family, Smith apologized to the Film Academy and other nominees, but not to Rock.

The Academy condemns Will Smith’s behavior
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences referred to the incident in a statement on Monday.

“The academy condemns Mr. Smith’s actions at yesterday’s ceremony,” the organization said in a statement. “We have officially begun the formal investigation of the case and we will continue to take action and take action in accordance with our rules of procedure, standards of conduct and California law,” he added.
