The motion picture academy, the organization of the Oscars, has decided to ban actor Will Smith from the presentation of the most prestigious film awards in the world for the next 10 years. The academy had previously called Smith’s blow “unacceptable and painful”.
The organization also apologizes for how they handled it the evening itself. After the battle, Smith not only stayed in the hall, but also won prizes. “We missed an opportunity to set an example for our guests and our viewers,” it said.
Smith said in a press release that he accepts and respects the organization’s decision.
