Pinkett Smith, 52, and Smith, 55, have been married since 1997 and although they did not take the step of legally divorcing, they have been living “completely separate lives” since 2016.

According to what the actress confesses to Kotb during the interview, her marriage fractured due to “many things.” “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were both exhausted from trying,” says the actress, who has two children with Will Smith.
“I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be,” he adds.
