A new controversy has become a trending topic on social media between the former mayor of San Miguel, Will Salgado, and the president of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, over questions about the transparency of the public entities they have led.

This stems from a statement by the President of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, on a digital platform where he met with supporters of Nuevas Ideas. In that space, Ernesto Castro spoke about the budgets assigned to the factions in the Legislative Assembly.

“A former mayor of San Miguel was speaking, saying -oh!, transparency and that the Assembly, the Assembly is in debt and has to give-…oh God!, I want to see what will come out in the first audits in that municipality, that is what I want to see, that is what should have him worried,” Castro commented in reference to the mayor’s office of San Miguel; it should be remembered that Salgado did not win in the 2024 elections.

Former mayor of San Miguel under the banner of the Great Alliance for National Unity (GANA), Wilfredo Salgado, responded this Monday through his account on X (ex-Twitter).

“There are no friends in politics, Castro just forgets that CAPRES forcibly appointed the head of the UACI to all the mayors of the departmental capitals, and they managed purchases and tenders directly without consulting the mayors, we were just there for show,” Salgado revealed.

These statements have gone viral on social media. Will Salgado is a businessman and owner of a television channel in the east and was mayor of San Miguel from 2000 to 2015 and from 2021 to 2024.
