In the past week, an average of 1,878 infections per day were again reported, 19 percent more than the week before. Hospital admissions are also increasing: last week 61 per day, the week before only 53. That is an increase of 15 percent.

But virologist Steven Van Gucht of Sciensano says we don’t have to worry too much right away. “It will probably be a hill rather than a mountain,” he says. “But it does show that the virus is not gone yet.”
