Will Rammstein go to court? “It’s not a coincidence”

During a 30-year career, Rammstein has sold over 20 million records and toured the world with groundbreaking, spectacular performances. The band’s discography so far ends with “Zeit” (read the review) from April 2022.

The band consists of: Till Lindemann (vocals), Paul Landers (guitar), Richard Z. Kruspe (guitar), Flake (keyboards), Oliver Riedel (bass) and Christoph Schneider (drums).

Last year, problems fell on the group’s leader – he was accused by young women of sexual misconduct. Several women said they were invited to backstage parties at concerts or in advance via Instagram. There they were allegedly drugged and attacked. Ultimately, the prosecutor’s office decided to discontinue the investigation due to the lack of evidence to support the accusations.

The band’s most popular songs include: “Deutschland”. This song has recently become the object of increased interest. The case began in 2020, when fans of the German group accused Ninja Cyborg of plagiarism. However, as it turned out, the latter’s song – “The Sunny Road” – was written earlier than “Deutschland”.

Ninja Cyborg musicians said that Rammstein was too “inspired” by their song. “A music expert appointed by the Paris Court of Appeal found that Rammstein intentionally borrowed the riff and other melodic elements of ‘Sunny Road’ and used them in ‘Deutschland’ and that ‘mere coincidence is not possible’ given the too many common points,” it can be said read in the statement.

The case went to court, and the first hearing was scheduled for September 10, 2024. Rammstain’s musicians have not yet commented on the accusations.
