Will Radeons use the RX 7600/7500 6nm refresh of today’s Navi 2X?

Of course, this does not mean that AMD recycles a whole range of Radeons with Navi 2X chips, we are talking specifically about the Radeons RX 7600 and 7500, ie probably the weakest versions, or they can be models 7500 and 7400. According to leaker Greymon55 so “only” Navi 31, 32 and 33 will use the RDNA 3 microarchitecture, which should apply at least to the successors of today’s Radeons RX 6900 XT to RX 6600 XT. –

In addition, we learn that it will not be a simple recycling, but essentially a die-shrink, ie the creation of the same chips using a new, more advanced process, specifically using 6nm N6 technology. Respectively, we assume that it will be the N6 process of TSMC.

The N6 has been talked about for a long time and, as this graph from TSMC shows, it will not be a technology that is not at all insignificant in terms of capacity. By the end of this year, it is expected to almost equalize the 7nm process in terms of capacity, so it would be really strange if AMD, currently the most important customer of TSMC in the case of the N7, did not use this innovation.

After all, it seems like a reasonable approach, given that 5nm of capacity will not be enough, even though the N5 starts better than in its time, the N7. However, an improved version of the N7 used today in the form of a slightly improved N6 will definitely come in handy for AMD.

The question is which of the Navi 2X AMD can plan as a 6nm GPU for the next weaker Radeons. It will hardly be Navi 21, but Navi 22 could already be. It is thus possible that the next generation of Radeons will consist of two-chip 5nm GPUs, single-chip 5nm GPUs and just 6nm older GPUs.
