A statement from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra states that Łukasz Mejza is suspected of submitting false property declarations.

An investigation into this case was initiated at the end of 2023. It was about the lack of information in the asset declaration about the value of PLN 500,000. PLN for the apartment. As reported by Wirtualna Polska, MP Mejza himself informed about the 59-square-meter apartment in his previously submitted asset declarations. WP journalists checked that he was still the owner of the premises and notified the Zielona Góra prosecutor’s office. In his statement submitted on November 13, 2023, i.e. at the beginning of the current term of office of the Sejm, Łukasz Mejza mentioned, among others: 180 thousand PLN loan for an apartment, but he omitted information about owning an apartment. After publication, the MP sent a correction to his asset declaration to the office of the Speaker of the Sejm, in which he added an apartment.

Prosecutor Robert Kmieciak said in a statement that “the evidence collected in the form of, among others, property declarations, inspection of the apartment, documentation obtained from the Central Anticorruption Bureau and the Tax Office, sufficiently substantiated the suspicion that Łukasz Mejza, a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, had committed eleven crimes.” clarified: “seven under Article 233 § 6 of the Penal Code in connection with Article 233 § 1 of the Penal Code, i.e. providing untruths or concealing the truth in seven declarations on assets submitted in the years 2021-2024 . on the execution of the mandate of a deputy and senator consisting in concealing or providing false information regarding financial status. Three crimes under Article 14, paragraph 1 of the Act of 21 August 1997 on the restriction of business activities by persons performing public functions. 2021 in three declarations of assets submitted under this Act as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, and then Secretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, consisting in concealing or providing false data regarding assets. Moreover, the MP’s actions were assessed as violating Art. 231 of the Penal Code, finding that a public official – a Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland has not fulfilled his obligation to report the information required by law within a period no later than 30 days to the register of benefits kept by the Speaker of the Sejm, referred to in Art. 35a of the Act on the exercise of the mandate of a deputy and senator.

It is possible to hold a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland criminally liable after obtaining the prior consent of the Sejm.

Estate of MP Mejza: the prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra initiated an investigation into irregularities in the asset declaration of PiS MP Łukasz Mejza. The parliamentarian did not include information about the value of PLN 500,000. PLN for the apartment.
