Does he want to or doesn’t he? Whether the popular feel-good series “Ted Lasso” will continue after three seasons is a difficult question for lead actor and showrunner Jason Sudeikis.

For three seasons and a total of 34 episodes, the comedy series “Ted Lasso“ on the streaming service Apple TV+.won several Emmys and Golden Globes and became an absolute audience favorite.
But was the finale of the third season, released in 2023, really the end of this successful series? Bill Lawrence, co-creator of the series alongside Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, recently asked this very question in an interview with the industry magazine Collider.
Lawrence made it clear that everyone involved in the production would be ready for a fourth season of “Ted Lasso,” but it depends on the decision of one person: lead actor and lead writer Jason Sudeikis. “Whatever Jason wants to do and whatever he decides, we are all OK with it.”explained Lawrence.

“Ted Lasso” is about the good-natured American football coach Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), who is unexpectedly hired as a coach by the mediocre (fictional) British football club AFC Richmond, even though he has no experience with football at all.
What Ted doesn’t know before he arrives in Great Britain: Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), the owner of the club, wants him to fail as a coach in order to get revenge on her football-mad and unfaithful ex-husband. But despite a few culture shocks, skeptical fans and a disunited team, Ted soon becomes a popular and capable football coach.
Everything told in three seasons?
Thanks to lovable characters, lots of charm and warm-hearted humor, “Ted Lasso” soon thrilled a growing audience as a feel-good series. However, the series was originally pitched and designed for only three seasons on Apple TV+. Accordingly, no narrative thread remained loose at the end of the third season.
Nevertheless, the door still seems to be open for further seasons or even spin-offs. What could cause problems for Jason Sudeikis was highlighted by Bill Lawrence ColliWhat further highlights are the long filming stays in England. Finally, Sudeikis is the father of two children living in the USA, for whom he shares custody with his ex-wife, actress and director Olivia Wilde.
