Will MAEK be handed over to KazMunayGas, Minister of Energy replied

news-id-113740" style="display:inline;">At a briefing in the Pavlodar region, Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev was asked about the need to transfer MAEK under the control of KazMunayGas or Samruk-Kazyna. Earlier, this opinion was expressed by the former adviser to the Minister of Energy, Olzhas Baidildinov, who called MAEK a chronically unprofitable enterprise.

– As far as MAEK is concerned, the question should not be who will own this station. At the moment, as you know, the station is managed by the akimat of the Mangistau region. And they have assembled a fairly good team of professionals, ensuring the current operation and repair. Here the question is in financing the programs that are required for the restoration of this station, – Satkaliyev said, commenting on the situation at a briefing.

According to the minister, MAEK is in an emergency situation – repair work is being carried out at three power units at once.

– We have now rapidly completed the repair of one of the blocks, others will also be commissioned before the start of the heating season according to the plan. That is, the station will be ready for winter. Electricity will be provided during the heating season, the head of the Ministry of Energy assured.

He assured that by the end of the year KEGOC will complete the construction of a 220 kilovolt power line, which will increase the possibility of supplying energy to the Mangistau power center from Uralsk, Atyrau and the Russian Federation. However, given the current state of power equipment, risks remain, so the Ministry of Energy, in its plans, has already begun preliminary work on the construction of a new energy source.

The head of the Ministry of Energy added that this energy facility will be included in the forecast plan and there are already investors who are interested in construction, and they are leaving for the region.

– That is, we will offer the government a radical renewal of the energy structure of the region through the construction of new, more efficient sources, – concluded Satkaliyev.
