Lutz Pfannenstiel does not believe that soccer superstar Lionel Messi will play in the playoffs with Inter Miami in North American Major League Soccer (MLS).
“There are still twelve games left and they are twelve points behind a playoff spot. Of course you can theoretically catch up, but then they would have to win almost everything – and I just don’t see that with the sometimes very strong opponents,” said Pfannenstiel, German sports director of Miami’s MLS rival St. Louis City, the news portal t-online.de.
“Messi is the best player in the world, but he can’t do magic either. It won’t be easy for him,” said 50-year-old Pfannenstiel as the season progressed. The club needs time to work its way to the top. However, since Messi moved to Florida from Paris Saint-Germain, Miami has won six consecutive Leagues Cup games. In the league, however, it will be much more difficult for the Argentine superstar with the bottom of the table in the Eastern Conference. Pfannenstiel is at the top of the table with St. Louis in the Western Conference.
