This is one of the questions that the tifosi of Juventus are asking themselves: will their team be able to play in European competition next season? The risk of exclusion is real, but when will UEFA give its verdict?
Juventus are finally done with Italian sports justice. This Tuesday, May 30, the National Federal Court accepted the pact that had been found between the bianconero club and the federal prosecutor’s office. An agreement which provided for the re-advancement of the second trial which concerned Juve, that on the “salary maneuver” to Tuesday May 30 when it was initially scheduled for June 15.
The goal was to put an end to all these extra-sporting stories in order to prepare for the next season without problems, without new penalty points. Because yes, it was likely that the trial (originally scheduled for June 15) would not end before the end of the 2022-2023 fiscal year. Any penalties would therefore have been spread over the 2023-2024 season.
The Federal National Court accepted the pact: Juventus was fined 718,000 euros. The Serie A club logically renounces to appeal for the case of the “salary maneuver” but also that of the capital gains which had seen the Bianconero team penalized by 10 points in the standings. She will therefore have no other penalty points, extra-sporting matters are over with sports justice.
With the conclusion of the cases of the Italian sports justice, it is now up to UEFA to give its verdict. On the last day of Serie A, we will know if Juventus will qualify for the Europa League or the Europa Conference League (it is currently 7th in the league). The Bianconero club is under investigation by UEFA for an alleged violation of “Financial Fair Play”.
Always good to specify that the investigations made by the European football authority are independent of those made by the Italian justice. According to Gazzetta dello Sportthe decision of the supervisory body is therefore expected by mid-June because UEFA does not have time to procrastinate: there are the playoffs and the draws in August.
Being one of the clubs that supports the SuperLeague, it is unlikely that the European body will grant participation in the European cups to the Old lady. We just have to wait for the final answer.
