Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — English club Chelsea announced Wednesday that striker Joao Felix has joined their ranks on a 6-month loan deal from Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
And the site “Euro Sport” said that the cost of the deal was around 11 million euros ($12 million), in addition to the “Blues” taking over the player’s salary.
The English club released a statement on its social media accounts, revealing that the squad will support the 23-year-old Portuguese international striker.
“This team is one of the best in the world and I hope to help them achieve their goals, so I’m very happy to be here and very excited to be playing at Stamford Bridge,” Joao Felix told the Chelsea official website.
Felix’s deal comes after the ‘Blues’ side suffered in terms of scoring, as they are regarded as one of the lowest scoring sides in the current Premier League season, with 20 goals, and rank tenth with 25 points.
Felix played 14 games for Atletico Madrid in the “La Liga” competition this season, during which time he scored 4 goals and set up 3. Joao Felix participated with Portugal in the 2022 World Cup Finals in Qatar, and has reached the quarterfinals with The Group.
