Instagram has confirmed it is developing a prototype of the new Stories feature since early 2021.
Instead of swiping right or left as it is now, the Instagram Stories timeline is being tested to be able to slide vertically.
The practice of scrolling the timeline vertically (top to bottom) is similar to scrolling content on Instagram’s competitor, TikTok.
Although it has been confirmed since last year, the prototype of the Instagram Stories display that can be swiped vertically has only recently been revealed.

Information shared by social media consultant, Matt Navarra, a number of users in Turkey discovered the new Instagram Stories design.
This design is said to be being tested on a small number of users in the country.
From the video shared by Navvara, the Instagram Stories interface is not much different from today.
Stories belonging to one account can be viewed in the same way as they are now, by tapping on the right or left of the screen.
The difference is when a user moves from one account to another to view the stories.
