Will Indiana Jones 5 be a hit or a flop? You need to know about the story, the cast and the new director – Kino News

Has seen exactly 700 films in the last year – and enjoyed every minute of them, even if the film wasn’t that good at the moment.

After the disappointing “Indiana Jones 4”, is there more reason to be optimistic this time? Our video editor Sebastian Gerdshikow has compiled all currently available information in order to classify it for you in the following video:

Anyone who shoots an action blockbuster with a leading actor who, like Harrison Ford, is now close to eighty, would be expected not to dawdle more than necessary in production. But the work on “Indiana Jones 5” has been dragging on for ages – and for once that has little or nothing to do with Corona: After all, Disney announced a new “Indy” part in 2016 after purchasing Lucasfilm – with a start date on July 19, 2019.

Well, that was probably nothing. In the meantime, at least officially, filming has started – albeit not under the original director Steven Spielberg (“West Side Story”), who has since left the film, but under “Walk The Line” maker James Mangold. It’s logical that fans are initially skeptical about an “Indy” film without Spielberg – and so the newcomer Mangold has already fought a bitter social media battle with fans who are too critical in his eyes.

Is the skepticism appropriate?

But is the advance criticism really appropriate? Can’t the new rights holder Disney turn the tide after the financially super successful but creatively disappointing “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”? After all, James Mangold has delivered more good (“Le Mans 66”, “Logan”) than poor (“Wolverine: Weg des Kriegers”) films in recent years. But it’s best to form your own opinion: In the video above, Sebastian provides you with all the currently known information about the story, production and cast.

Next setback for “Indiana Jones 5”? Harrison Ford injured while filming

How epic the production story of “Indiana Jones 5” really is can be read quite well from the fact that Sebastian recorded an opinion video for the film back in 2016 (!!!). However, he and the then FILMSTARTS volunteer Yves, who now runs the YouTube channel of our partner editorial team Moviepilot, saw it a little differently:

The Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was engaged in a role for the new “Indiana Jones”. Mikkelsen, who is constantly switching between domestic and international productions, is currently in German cinemas with the Oscar film “Der Rausch”. There, four teachers who are friends decide to only work when they are drunk – and we have simply adopted this experiment for our current podcast episode on the film:
