Bethesda veteran – and creator of games like The Elder Scrools V: Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Starfield – Todd Howard was born in 1970. He’ll probably be close to 60 when The Elder Scrolls VI arrives, which means he’s not far from the usual retirement age.
But will he leave the industry anytime soon?this is exactlyGQAsked about him in a recent interview, Howard revealed he has no plans to retire. Quite the opposite actually, as he says he wants to do it forever:
“It’s weird to me, but it’s a long, long way to go. I want to do it forever. I think the way I work might change, but … look at Miyamoto. He’s still doing.
Mario’s father, Shigeru Miyamoto, is 71 years old and still involved in Nintendo’s games, albeit less hands-on. In addition to Starfield, Howard is currently listed as an executive producer on Amazon’s Fallout TV series and MachineGames’ upcoming Indiana Jones game. We already know he’s working on the next Elder Scrolls.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Howard stays in the video game industry for as long as possible, and he still has a lot of masterpieces to come.
