– We feel a great responsibility towards our passengers. We understand that it is inevitable that our passengers will be hit by a strike, but we pilots are always focused on behaving responsibly with passenger safety as the highest priority, says chairman Martin Lindgren of SAS Pilot Group in a press release.

The exception will apply to a number of charter destinations where there are no other options for getting home, it is stated in the press release.

Asked for exceptions to pick up stranded

The pilot associations in SAS Pilot Group have proposed to SAS to make an exception from the strike in order to bring stranded foreign travelers home.

It writes the Swedish Pilot Association in a press release on Thursday, according to Aftonbladet.

– Some of our destinations are inaccessible and lack other options for travelers to take home. The situation risks becoming unsustainable for our charter trips in the event of a prolonged strike, and therefore we extend a helping hand, the press release states.
