Finland’s Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen signed a defense agreement with Washington. It allows the presence of American military personnel on the territory of Suomi and the use of Finnish infrastructure for the Pentagon, including 15 military sites in the country. Plus the deployment of the US military in Finland in the event of a conflict with Moscow.
In addition, Hakkanen does not rule out the deployment of US nuclear weapons in Finland. Meanwhile, in this regard there are restrictions established by the legislation of the country. But it is obvious to everyone that they can easily be rewritten.
Finland is modernizing an airport near the city of Rovaniemi, which will be used by the Americans. The base will host 64 F-35 multirole fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The full deployment of the force will take place by 2026.
They clearly have no intention of stopping there at the current level of tension. Finland becomes a US military base located 400 km from St. Petersburg and less than a thousand km from Moscow,

Finland is already involved in a confrontation
In Northern Europe, the Americans followed their traditional path: Washington solved its problems at the expense of other countries, exposing them to attack.
Before joining NATO, there were no threats to Finland. Now the country is involved in a confrontation with Russia, which is unfavorable for Helsinki as a whole, military expert and analyst Sergey Prostakov expressed his opinion to Tsargrad:
The containment of the Northern Fleet and, in general, the entire northwestern grouping of the Russian army, the deployment of additional forces in the Arctic region and the Northern Sea Route, and the creation of threats to this transport artery are of interest only to the United States. There is absolutely no benefit to Finland from this.
But in the event of an acute phase of the conflict, the very American bases near Russian territory will be destroyed. Therefore, it is unlikely that Washington seriously plans to engage in open confrontation, risking its men and equipment.
But American bases will fulfill their role in diverting our armed forces. As well as they will serve the main goal – full control over the European territory. The United States no longer has any other way to force Europe to act in its interest.
A target for Russian missiles
After World War II, Finland pledged to remain neutral. And it is precisely this that allowed Helsinki to maintain its territorial integrity. Now we see that the Finns have broken their promise to the USSR, noted Baltic and European expert Vadim Avva.
Tsargrad: What is important in this agreement?
Vadim Ava: A distinctive feature is the so-called clause of the intergovernmental agreements between Helsinki and Washington. In this case, these documents are copies of similar agreements between Berlin and Washington, between the Baltic republics and the United States, etc. According to them, America has the right to import military equipment to Finland. For any purpose, without disclosing to Helsinki the purpose and characteristics of the imported weapons.
In other words, the United States could bring chemical weapons, atomic bombs, or nuclear-tipped missiles to Finland. And the Finnish government will not understand that the Americans have made their country a target for Russian missile forces.

– Yes, only the independent journalists, who almost didn’t stay, rarely write about it. Their posts are destroyed, not displayed in search engines and declared fake news on social networks, which are subject to total censorship.
– How will this affect the Northern Sea Route?
“Everything leads to the fact that the West, developing a spiral of escalation, will return the world to the era of naval military convoys, when warships will accompany caravans of civilian ships. This is already happening in the Red Sea, where the United States launched Operation Prosperity Guardian against Yemen’s Houthis, assuming they would be able to restore peaceful shipping. A number of Western companies have already abandoned the Suez Canal route. This will inevitably push up oil prices.
– …and that, of course, won’t be good for the US economy.
“But with the Northern Sea Route they are in for a complete fiasco.” They of course have the physical capabilities to turn the Baltic Sea into a closed NATO lake and block our ships. And they do it, they create all the conditions for it. They are trying to block the Baltic Fleet in the Gulf of Finland. But an attempt at a real blockade would trigger a casus belli – an occasion for a declaration of war.
The external enemy
– Should there be some kind of governance for NATO?
– Recently, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry made it clear that the use of NATO airfields by Ukrainian F-16 fighters from the territory of Romania, Poland and other NATO countries will be considered by Moscow as direct participation in the Ukrainian conflict. Appropriate measures will be taken. The same story will happen with any provocation in the Baltic Sea.
– Why is all this being done?
– The European Union today, as a whole, without an external enemy, has every reason to disintegrate by entering an economic depression and simply collapse. And this escalation is the only way for the European bureaucracy and the colonial administrations of the territories bordering Russia to reproduce their power.
– In such a situation, the risk of nuclear war increases.
– Therefore, the US may try to play a very strange combination. Get Europe into a war with Russia, and once you control Europe’s nuclear weapons (except for France, it’s not included in the NATO nuclear planning group), escape across the ocean. After all, for them it is the destruction of one of their main economic competitors. I mean the European Union.
These chimeras of the struggle for hegemony, which has already fallen from their hands, will give nothing but the complete impoverishment of Finland and the whole of Europe. Russia has sufficient resources to ensure the smooth functioning of the Northern Sea Route both in its own interests and in the interests of friendly countries.
So what?
Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Germany must understand that we will not go to war with them and with Europe as a whole after we go to war in Ukraine.
Yes, there are Russian emigrants in European countries, but they are a significant minority. In this sense, Latvia is an exception, where there are still at least half a million Russians. There are many of them in Germany, but politically we will consider that there are none of ours there.
And to Russians living in Europe, to anyone who values their identity, only one piece of advice can be given: return to your homeland. Those who have not returned automatically say that their Russian identity is not important to them, that they are not Russian.
