Barcelona –
There is a new drama from Barcelona. Giant Spanish League reportedly ready to confer in court with Quique Setien, his former coach. What is wrong?
Reported by Marca, Barcelona is ready to face Setien in court in the aftermath of the coach’s dismissal last season. The club reportedly refused to pay compensation, which was said to be 3.5 million euros, or around Rp. 60 billion.
It is claimed that Barcelona will bring him to court, and question Setien’s credibility. The coach is considered incompetent to train Lionel Messi et al.
Setien himself was appointed coach of Barcelona in January 2020, replacing him Ernesto Valverde. Setien was eventually fired, for failing to bring a trophy to the club.
Last season, Barcelona failed in all competitions with Setien. Messi et al finished second in the Spanish League, eliminated in the quarter-finals Copa del Rey, then slaughtered on Champions League by Bayern Munich 2-8, which will be the closing game of his season.
According to reports Ser string, Barcelona has sent a letter to Quique Setien which explained that they would not pay the rest of the compensation. “He doesn’t have the ability or attitude to coach the team,” Barcelona argued.
Barcelona, in his explanation, also accused Setien of not having much influence at the club. In fact, his assistant, Eder Sarabia, who is said to have taken over the Blaugrana matches and training sessions more.
Setien himself admitted that he had difficulty training at Barcelona, especially dealing with Messi. The Argentine superstar is claimed to be difficult to control because the club has let him for years.
“Leo is difficult to manage. Who am I going to change if they accept him as he is for years and do not change him? There are other aspects outside the player and it is more difficult to manage. It is much more difficult,” Setien told El Pais some time ago.
This situation could have a negative impact on the progress of Barcelona, who are still struggling together Ronald Koeman— Setien’s successor. This season, Barcelona is still in third position Spanish League standings, and recently failed to win the Spanish Super Cup trophy.
