In order to contain the corona pandemic, there is now a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages intended for direct consumption throughout Hamburg. And there is a threat of further tightening of the corona rules.
Other federal states have already pushed ahead, for example Saxony with the closure of many shops and schools and daycare centers from Monday. Is something like that threatened in Hamburg too? Will the Christmas rule be melted down?

Senate wants to decide by Tuesday at the latest
However, there could be much stricter rules if the federal and state governments agree on them. The prime ministers of the federal states may meet again on Thursday. If there is a special summit this week, many in the Senate assume that the next sharper lockdown will come. The Hamburg Senate will make a final decision on the new corona rules by next Tuesday at the latest.
New serving ban applies at any time of the day
Last Tuesday, a tightening was decided at short notice, which has been in place since Wednesday: The sale and delivery of all alcoholic beverages intended for immediate consumption is now prohibited – this applies in particular to glasses, cups or disposable beverage containers – at any time of the day . Closed beverage bottles or cans are not affected.

Initially, bans only applied in certain parts of the city
Initially, there was a ban on serving mulled wine & Co. from the afternoon only in busy places in the districts of North and Altona because many people had not adhered to the currently applicable distance rules. “Health protection has top priority. And when people – understandably especially when it gets colder – stand together chatting over a hot drink, then unfortunately that contradicts everything that is required now,” said the second mayor Katharina Fegebank (Greens) the Hamburg Journal.
