Jane Birkin’s daughter then left to settle in New York, to the consternation of her companion Yvan Attal. But Charlotte Gainsbourg could very well be about to move on from her life. A series of photos posted to her Stories on her Instagram account suggest that the actress and singer has finally packed her bags.

“Goodbye New York”

This series of photos shows the streets of New York probably taken during childbirth, a truck selling ice cream, a corner of the garden with a table and chairs, the bay of the Hudson River, the typical buildings of the city, images of the Brooklyn Bridge, but also the photos of the demonstrations in support of George Floyd and against the police violence that are taking place these days throughout the United States. In an interview with Madame Figaro published this Friday June 5, Charlotte Gainsbourg has not hidden her desire to return to live in France. A decision that seems to have been accelerated by the coronavirus epidemic, particularly virulent in New York. “I’m still confined to New York with my kids, and I was there for two months. I’ve had a great attachment to this city because I’ve lived there for six years, but to see it in this state.. It’s so sad all these enclosed places, all these unemployed… how much misery. It’s terrible. It’s also there that I realize that a part of the United States, a country that I like, however, has a different culture. When there’s a serious problem, like this, you realize realize you want to go ‘home’,” she confided, referring to her life in New York in the past.
