– There is a lot of infection that has spread in a short time. We do everything we can to put it down. We have introduced strict measures with the government and targeted measures locally. Work is in full swing day, night and weekend, says mayor Hedda Foss Five to TV 2.
It is especially the young age groups that cause the infection in Skien, Porsgrunn and the neighboring municipality of Bamble.
– Youth and young adults are hardest hit and therefore I am especially stressed considering the Russian era. It has been amputated and will soon be over, but we will probably have to cancel the last part of it as well, says the mayor.

20 russ are infected
On Tuesday, 48 positive cases were reported in Skien. Almost 300 people have been infected during the month of May.
The proportion of infected people in young age groups has increased in recent weeks.

In week 17, 24 percent of all infected people were between 10 and 20 years old, while 54 percent were between 20 and 49 years old. In week 18, the proportion was 35 and 42 per cent, respectively.
The mayor states that they now have 20 russ who have been confirmed infected.
– They have a lot of close contacts and they are difficult to get hold of. Young and young adults are the main problem right now, says Foss Five.
The infection pressure is also high in Porsgrunn. During May, 136 people have been confirmed infected.
– Not compatible
The mayor plans to discuss the Russian celebration in the presidency on Tuesday afternoon.
– There I will suggest that we come with a clear signal, says Foss Five.
– We have tried dialogue and to limit the number who can be together. But russetid is about partying, squeezing and being together, and it is not compatible with a pandemic, so I hope they listen to it, says the mayor.
