Will Berlin soon rule during the Corona crisis ?: That’s what the district administrators say

Will Berlin soon rule during the Corona crisis?

The Chancellor is angry. In the TV interview, she threatens to order lockdown measures if the emergency brake is not implemented. Then the districts would also have to obey. But in the region people are calm.

As a guest at the Sunday TV talk with Anne Will, Chancellor Angela Merkel made a clear statement: “I will not watch that we have 100,000 infected people,” she said.

Then came their declaration of war: If the federal states do not all rigorously implement the resolutions for a new corona emergency brake and also take options such as regional curfews, the federal government will intervene. The Chancellery could then order lockdown measures that must be implemented in the same way in all countries, districts and cities.

The day after the TV appearance, the district administrators in our region react quite calmly to the prospect of being governed by the Infection Protection Act in Berlin. In Baden-Württemberg, the agreements from the previous Prime Minister’s Conference have been implemented.

In the Karlsruhe district, the emergency brake applies without a curfew

“These state regulations are consistently applied in the area of responsibility of the Karlsruhe health department. Due to the incidence of over 100, the so-called emergency brake currently applies in the district, ”says District Administrator Christoph Schnaudigel.

His county currently has an incidence of 122.22. However, a curfew, as the emergency brake actually provides, does not apply. Their imposition The state government only wants to instruct the local authorities if all other measures have failed.

In any case, the district of Karlsruhe does not feel directly addressed by the statements of the Chancellor: According to the press spokesman, the statements of the Chancellor referred to other federal states and not to cities or municipalities.

The districts of Baden-Württemberg are committed to the fact that the strategy for coping with pandemics is defined by the federal and state levels.

Bastian Rosenau, District Administrator Enzkreis

Either way – when it comes to the question of whether Berlin will rule into the districts in the future, the Enzkreis is currently still fine with an incidence well below 100. But District Administrator Bastian Rosenau makes it clear: “The Baden-Württemberg districts are committed to the fact that the strategy for coping with pandemics is defined by the federal and state levels. Because a crisis needs leadership. “

In return, however, this also means that all levels of government in their respective areas of responsibility ensure that the pillars of pandemic control – vaccination, testing, contact person tracking and responsible opening – are implemented professionally. “The Enzkreis has been doing its part here for over a year,” says Rosenau.

Rastatt has another night curfew

It was not so much the criticism from the federal and state governments as the situation in France that prompted the Rastatt District Office to tighten the emergency brake further: On Monday evening, the District Office issued a night curfew for the Rastatt district and the city of Baden-Baden. “We have to build a protective wall,” explains the first state official, Jörg Peter.

So far, according to Peter, only the city of Mannheim and the district of Schwäbisch Hall have chosen this remedy. “There the incidences are also higher than here.”

We don’t want to hang on the cheek that the country is asking us to act.

Peter can understand the dissatisfaction of the federal and state governments at not having made faster progress in combating the pandemic. “But we don’t want to hang on the cheek that we are asked by the country to act.”

In the Ortenau with an incidence value of 140.85, as in the Karlsruhe district, the emergency brake measures also apply. However, without a curfew.
