JAKARTATikTok finally launched a tool for creating augmented reality (AR) effects that content creators and developers can use. This feature was officially released after previously being present in the beta version.

The feature, called Effect House, allows creators and developers to create their own AR camera effects. Later, AR camera effects can also be used by other TikTok users.

TikTok says the Effect House feature will be open to creators, designers and developers from around the world. The company also said it had provided information to study the effects of AR.

“Creative effects empower content creators to express themselves, entertain, and share stories through a variety of engaging and immersive formats,” said TikTok. The VergeWednesday (13/4/2022).

TikTok said that AR effects created must comply with guidelines in order to be used. AR effects must not contain racist elements such as promoting certain skin colors and negative stereotypes against certain groups.

AR effects that promote cosmetic surgery are also prohibited, such as lip fillers or that can encourage surveillance of one’s appearance.

So far, TikTok users have relied on the green screen effect to create engaging content, with over 1.5 billion videos using the effect. With the presence of AR effects, this seems to be a new trend in the TikTok community.

AR effects launch by TikTok emphasized that this video sharing application also always follows in the footsteps of its competitors. AR effects have been introduced by Instagram and Snapchat in recent years.
