FC Bayern Munich is said to be flirting with a return campaign from Woo-yeong Jeong. However, SC Freiburg has long-term plans with the South Korean.
At the beginning of the week, the TV station Sky reports that the German record champions have a buyback clause for Woo-yeong Jeong. The South Korean had been active for Munich for a year and a half from 2018 to 2019 before he was sold to SC Freiburg for two million euros.
In the meantime, he has been loaned back to the reserves of FC Bayern to gain match practice, but in the meantime he has risen to become a top performer in Breisgau. 15 starting XI appearances this season prove the value he has for Christian Streich.
Shortly before Christmas last year, Freiburg extended the whirlwind’s contract long-term – but they may have to let him go again at the end of the season. FC Bayern can order the South Korean back for ten million euros Sky.
This rumor met with little approval in Breisgau. “We have extended the contract. From that point of view, our plans are already going with him, also for the next few years. But I can’t look into the crystal ball, I don’t know who is saying anything – even from Bayern side. At Bayern, Jeong would be more of a squad-wide player; he would not have been granted many minutes of action in the record champions’ star ensemble.
