Jakarta, Insertlive –
The Apple company has long been producing iPhones with different chargers from other mobile phones.
IPhone phones use a charger with a Lightning connector to charge the battery.
But along with the development of technology, Apple appears to be unable to avoid using a standard USB Type-C charger for iPhone.
This is linked to a policy that has recently been approved by a majority of European parliamentarians.
The policy regulates the use of USB Type-C chargers as the only standard across the European Union from 2024.
Reported by Reutersthis policy is also what causes Apple to inevitably switch the iPhone to USB Type-C charging which is usually used by Android devices.
Additionally, starting in 2026, laptop devices will also need to use a USB Type-C charger.
This new policy in the European Union can also be applied by other regions of the world.
Most likely, Apple will actually switch from using iPhone Lightning connector chargers in the future.
Apple obviously disagrees with the USB Type-C charger policy that will soon come into effect in the European Union.
Apple is said to disagree with the policy on grounds of inhibiting innovation and increasing e-waste.
Even so, chargers with a Lightning connector can still be used for iPhones before 2024.
This new rule arises because many iPhone and Android users in Europe complain that they often change chargers when they don’t match the device.
The European Union Parliament then issued the new rules that must be respected by all mobile phone manufacturers.
Furthermore, the use of a USB Type-C charger is considered to be more convenient for mobile phone users.
Apple also anticipated European Union policies regarding the use of USB Type-C chargers.
Reported by BloombergApple plans to release an iPhone product with a USB Type-C charger in 2023.
