Mehmet Sepil, Owner of Göztepe Sportif Investments Inc., stated that the negotiations with the transfer process of the club are continuing and they want to finish it as soon as possible.
Sepil, at the press conference he held at Gürsel Aksel Stadium regarding the transfer process of the club after leaving his duty as club president, said that he has been from Göztepe for a long time and that this will continue.
Stating that he had planned to resign from the club presidency, but announced this in March, Sepil said that they had made progress with a Danish fund from various funds, especially from Europe and the USA, for the transfer of club shares, but they could not get any results.
Sepil stated that the offers of all funds are similar, but the falling broadcast revenue of the Super League affected the decision-making process of the funds, and said:
“There will be a new deal in the broadcast tender for a price even below TL, given last year. This will be a huge blow for the Super League clubs, but the good news is. I was on the broadcasting commission. We could not finalize the broadcast tender because there was no offer that would satisfy the clubs. That’s why we agreed with the current publisher. “The process of extending the contract for 1 or 2 years is being discussed. The tender is out of question. It was decided by the commission to end the tender as unsuccessful, but they are currently in talks with the broadcaster whose 5-year contract has expired, so that Turkish football will not be left without a broadcaster, and we expect it to end these days.”
“ABRAMOVICH BALLOON IS OUT”
Noting that Turkish investors were interested in Göztepe after the decision to leave in March, Sepil continued his words as follows:
“By the way, an Abramovich bubble broke out. I can’t find anything to say. Someone says something, everyone believes it. The first thing that broke out was British newspapers. If you read those newspapers carefully, there is an intention reading there, it doesn’t say, ‘Abramovich, I’ll take Göztepe’. Abramovich Chelsea” “He left Turkey, went to Turkey, then took Göztepe. Abramovich was spending a long time in Turkey at that time, but his aim was not to take Göztepe. He was used as a mediator in the Ukraine-Russia war, so he was in Turkey.”
Sepil stated that he saw Roman Abramovich only when he went to Chelsea matches in England, “I shook his hand once or twice, that’s all. I have never seen him in this process. I have neither received a phone call from Abramovich nor seen Abramovich.” said.
“WE NEED TO FINISH THE TRANSFER WORK VERY QUICKLY”
Stating that he will hand over Göztepe debt-free, Sepil said:
“There is no finished process, but there is a process that needs to be completed in a very short time. There is Adana Demirspor match next week, we play on Saturday, at 19.00. Our league ends on Saturday, then we have to finish this period work very quickly.”
Sepil stated that he wants to continue his Göztepe title in amateur branches other than football, “I don’t even want to think about the possibility of not being a handover, I’m sure it will happen. The best in the current conditions, my criteria are very high. Next week I will call our new chairman of the board Murat Yazıcı and the board of directors for a meeting. We will evaluate the situation with them, “I’m not a pessimist, I don’t even want to think about a no-takeover scenario. I certainly don’t intend to stay in football.” used the expressions.
WILL HE BE THE PRESIDENT OF TFF?
Noting that there is no candidacy for the Presidency of the Turkish Football Federation, Sepil said, “At the moment, football needs to be reconstructed in Turkey. TFF, Clubs Union… Sports law is a very good start, but some things need to change. Even in Spain 6 times He has changed. I was in the USA when I was elected President of the Association of Clubs. From time to time, our name is mentioned for the chairmanship of the federation. My first priority is Göztepe. The reason why I am in football is Göztepe.” he said.
Noting that Göztepe will not apply for the removal of the relegation, Sepil added that various changes can be made in the league status to make the Süper Lig more watchable.
