The program Today Inside will return to television next Monday, after a two-week break and a lot of commotion, with Genee, Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp.

The three presenters decided to stop on April 29 after a storm of commotion about a confession by Derksen, who said that he had penetrated an unconscious woman with a candle half a century ago. He later recanted and said there had been no penetration.

Talpa previously stated that return was ‘premature’

On Wednesday confusion arose when Derksen in the AD said the triumvirate would be back on television Monday. Van der Gijp said in RTL Boulevard to know nothing and Talpa also stated that he found Derksen’s statements “premature”.

Paul Römer, Talpa’s radio and television director, said on Thursday morning “not to take any responsibility” for Talpa’s statements. Quotes immediately take on a life of their own,” said the Talpa CEO.

Talpa: Case closed

Marco Louwerens, TV director of Talpa, states in a short statement that the company has taken a stand against the way Derksen told his story and the way he dealt with the subject. “We know that the men occasionally walk on the edge and that typifies the program, but this was obviously a step too far in several respects.”

As far as Talpa is concerned, the case is thus closed. †Today Inside remains a program where, among other things, discussions and conversations about various themes are held in public.”

Earlier riots around Derksen

The riot shows similarities with a similar incident in June 2020. Then many people fell over a funny comment that Derksen made about Zwarte Piet and rapper Akwasi. Derksen then also said that he no longer wanted to participate in the program.

In his biography, however, he wrote that Talpa founder John de Mol kept him to his contract. Talpa Network did not want to explain the question whether this has also played a role in the past two weeks.
