SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Matt Boldy scored his second career hat trick as the Minnesota Wild rallied to defeat the Washington Capitals 5-3 on Sunday.
The Wild, who saw their 14-game point streak come to an end Saturday against the Boston Bruins, edged within a point of the Dallas Stars and first in the Central Division.
Ryan Reaves and Brandon Duhaime also scored for the Wild, who hold a two-point lead over the Colorado Avalanche for the second-tier Central.
Marc-André Fleury has stopped 33 pucks and is 7-0-0 in his last seven starts for Minnesota.
Alex Ovechkin scored two power-play goals and Dylan Strome scored once for the Capitals. Charlie Lindgren stopped 35 shots.
Washington is five points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
