GRAYLING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A wildfire in Michigan burned more than 1,000 acres (1.5 square miles) and prompted emergency evacuations and road closures Saturday, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources said. .
The wildfire located within the township of Grayling, about 6.4 kilometers (about 4 miles) southeast of Grayling, is moving west and southwest and threatening several structures, the department said in a statement.
On Saturday, emergency personnel were directing evacuations and the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Michigan police and fire were working with the department of natural resources to combat the flames, according to the statement.
