“So he has a prime minister who is paralyzed, who doesn’t dare to do anything, and he wants to eliminate parliament himself. That’s what the crisis law is about. (…) What do we call that in other countries? What are you doing then? ( …) That usually leads to a dictatorship. He wants to govern the Netherlands as he governs his party, where no one can stand in his way,” says Van Jole.
‘Faber could easily have gone to the Council of Ministers’
The asylum crisis law was also extensively discussed in the Senate during the General Deliberations yesterday. The Senate considers declaring an asylum crisis undesirable and wants the cabinet to work on a Plan B. Minister Faber is now taking the motion to the Council of Ministers, but according to Kee, a supporting motivation has been ready at Justice for two weeks: “Faber had can easily go to the Council of Ministers. It just stays there.”
According to Van Jole, Wilders wants to eliminate parliament because he does not have a majority in the Senate. “You can also imagine: the moment he succeeds in this, he will do it more often.” Kee responds: “It does set the tone.
