The fourth favorite at Wimbledon leaves at the hands of a wildcard player
Norwegian tennis player Casper Rudd bid farewell today, Thursday, to the fourth favorite for the title at Wimbledon, against Britain’s Liam Brody, 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Ruud, who had not prepared well for the tournament, after spending the past period playing golf, concerts and holidays, was unable to excel against the 142nd seed, who had not won in his entire career against one of the 10 best players in the world.
Ruud has won Wimbledon since his first match there in 2018, only twice in this tournament, which is the third Grand Slam tournament.
Rudd has previously described that the turf on which players compete at Wimbledon is intended for golf, and he does not like such a surface.
Rudd is the first player among the top 10 names in this year’s Wimbledon Championships to leave the competition, in a big surprise in this edition.
