The story of ‘Valle salvaje’ takes place in the year 1763, where Adriana Salcedo de la Cruz (played by actress Rocío Suárez de Puga), a young woman who reflects the role of women in the 18th century, has to leave Madrid to move to the north of Spain and fulfill her marriage commitment. Intelligent, responsible and a dreamer, she must give up her great desire, to marry for love, to do so with a man she does not love. To do so, she will have to go to meet her fiancé, whom she does not know, and stay at her aunt’s house, her late father’s sister. However, her life will change forever: she will experience true love, betrayal and will put her life in danger when she tries to discover the truth about her father’s death.

This is the starting point of ‘Valle salvaje’, the new and ambitious daily fiction for the afternoons of La 1 (Monday to Friday, at 18:30). Created by Josep Cister, creator of the successful ‘La promesa’, it has a cast that mixes experience with youth, with actors such as Manuela Velasco, Mari Paz Sayago or Marco Pernas. The great majority of the exteriors have been filmed in a location in La Pinilla (Segovia), where two large palaces of 6,000 square meters have been built in a unique mountainous enclave. The series also has locations such as the Royal Palace of La Granja San Ildefonso, the Palace of Aranjuez or the Finca de la Granjilla, among others. The voice of the fiction will be provided by the singer st. Pedro, participant of Benidorm Fest, who wrote a song for the header.

‘Valle salvaje’ aims to make a leap in quality in the production of daily fiction. In this way, La 1 will bet on three series every afternoon (‘La moderna’, ‘La promesa’ and, now, this new bet) as an alternative to the magazines presented by Sonsoles Ónega (Antena 3) and Ana Rosa Quintana (Telecinco). “It has been a hard road. It has not been easy to get to this point, but we are very excited and happy,” admits the director of Cinema and Fiction at RTVE, José Pastor, who explains that fiction does not aim to “invent anything new,” but to offer “a high-quality product that entertains the public, that can be very versatile and that can work both on open television and on platforms.”

The new offering from the public channel, produced by Studiocanal in collaboration with Bambú Producciones, has also teamed up with Netflix, which will make it available to all its users. “And we believe that this is very good, because the series will not only be seen in Spain, but will also have visibility in other countries around the world. We hope that it will place Spanish fiction, in this case from RTVE, as one of the most consumed,” says the director, who also highlights the fact that the smallest details have been taken care of. Thus, one of the biggest bets has been the display of costumes, which have been made to measure for its actors. The fabrics, which range from brocades, organza, wild silks, taffetas or lace, aim to transport the audience to the 18th century.

Ingredients of fiction

For his part, Cister draws a line between his two daily TVE series. “The Promise” has already been made, it is a fiction that works and is more than proven. The question was how we could give it a twist and how we could make something attractive for the viewer,” explains the creator, who admits that making an afternoon series set in 1763 has been complicated. “But it is a story of love, family, passion, revenge and other elements that everyone knows. They are the ingredients of life,” he points out.

For the CEO of Bambú Producciones, Ramón Campos, ‘Valle salvaje’ is the «definitive push» for RTVE’s commitment to fiction. «This series is the epitome of what Bambú is», says the producer, who is behind successes such as ‘Gran Reserva’, ‘Fariña’ or ‘El caso Asunta’. He also values the good moment that, in his opinion, it is going through after the success of ‘La revuelta’. «We hope to give TVE another push, which is already living on a high with Broncano and ‘La promesa’», he adds.
