A 19-year-old man from Belgium was arrested on Monday afternoon after a savage police chase on the A58. The man ignored a stop sign for a check, took off at full throttle and broke part of the guardrail. Besides, he didn’t have a license and was driving under the influence of drugs.
The Marechaussee wanted to stop the man around five in the afternoon when he crossed the Belgian-Dutch border on the A16 near Breda. When the military police gave him a stop sign, he ignored it and took off at high speed. The Marechaussee and then the police hunted down with three cars.
The man went over his tough shoulder and zigzagged through traffic, endangering traffic. He turned around at the Ulvenhout exit. He then broke part of the guardrail. Eventually the Marechaussee managed to stop the man, after which he was arrested on the hard shoulder along the A58 near Tilburg.
The teenager is suspected of ignoring a stop sign, driving without a license, unsafe driving, speeding and driving under the influence of drugs. The man is under house arrest pending further investigations.
