Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – “An impressive sight!” said Brazilian photographer Henrik Olsen in an interview with CNN Arabic when describing a wild moment he documented in the Pantanal wetlands in Brazil.
In the scene, a yellow anaconda is seen wrapping itself around an unlucky caiman in a tight grip, an act that lasts for hours. (Watch the video above)
“It was very unusual, and I never thought I would be able to see something like this,” Olsen said. “I remember thinking what would happen if a jaguar showed up, since we were in an area with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world.”
Olsen encountered this scene during a trip in these wetlands, which are considered the largest in the world, in September 2021.
The first question that comes to people’s minds regarding this scene may be: Who wins?
It seems that the crocodile was actually lucky, as Alsun explained: “At some point, the caiman headed into the river, and then the anaconda simply left it.”
The Brazilian photographer saw that the size of the crocodile was very large, which made it a difficult feast for the snake.
The video received millions of views when the photographer posted it on his Instagram account, and said: “Everyone was amazed and at the same time they felt interested in the position of the caiman versus the yellow anaconda. Many people wanted to know who won the battle.”
