The Ukrainian national team lost the quarter-finals to the German team Socca 2022 World Cupwhich takes place in Hungarian Budapest.
Socca is a variant of futsal, which differs in the number of players and the size of the pitch. The matches are played in the format of 6 to 6 players, two halves of 20 minutes.
The teams of Germany and Ukraine met in the quarter-finals. Before that, in the 1/8 finals, Germany defeated Hungary (3: 2) and Ukraine beat Slovenia (2: 0).
The start proved unsuccessful for the Gialloblù. After conceding two goals at the start of the match, the Ukrainians became more active and Oleksandr Urutskiy scored a goal in the 10th minute. In addition, the captain of the Ukrainian national team Dmitry Podkolzin received a 2-minute suspension for a serious foul. Having played well in defense, the Gialloblù have had several good opportunities to equalize, but have not exploited them.
The key moment came at the start of the second half. It turned out to be the most curious target of the tournament, associated with a wet ball and rainy weather. Ukrainian national team goalkeeper Svyatoslav Markanych made a serious mistake in receiving the ball and treacherously launched himself into the goal.
Losing in the score, the Gialloblù started to take risks, replaced the goalkeeper with a field player and got a defeat – 3: 8. As a result, Germany reached the semifinals and Ukraine completed their tournament journey.
