– Local media reported that a wild elephant found in Thailand and being treated with gunshot wounds died. About 40 bullets shot by people were embedded in the body of the dead elephant.
According to the Bangkok Post on the 11th, a male elephant died the day before while undergoing treatment in the Kuiburi National Park in the southern Prachu-up state.
The elephant, estimated to be between 20 and 25 years old this year, weighing about 3 tons, was found injured on December 10 last year in a nearby village.
The elephant was in a very violent condition at the time of discovery, so it could only be taken to the national park after being sedated. Since then, the elephant has been treated by veterinarians in the park for over a month, but has died.
Police later inspected the elephant’s body using a metal detector, and as a result, more than 40 bullets fired from various guns were found all over the elephant’s body, including under the elephant’s right eye and in the nose.
Officials at the park believe the elephant’s nature has changed violently after being shot by people several times, the newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, in the process of treating elephants, a park official was attacked and killed, the newspaper added.
