Educational institutions in Kurukan Moola, Kurua, Kadamkolli and Payyampally divisions of Mananthavadi Municipality have also declared holiday. The District Collector directed that people should not go out unnecessarily.
Minister AK Saseendran had informed that 13 teams of forest department and five teams of police will be patrolling in Mananthavadi even at night. A team of forest department will have 6 to 8 members. Section Forest Officer and Beat Forest will lead. The minister also informed that steps have been taken to continuously monitor night vision drone surveillance and GPS antenna receiver signal. The mission team was after the elephant since yesterday morning but could not drug it. This attempt was abandoned as night fell.
