Wild brawl at the pipeline – Vorarlberger Nachrichten

Feldkirch In the warmer months of the year, the pipeline in Bregenz is a popular place for young and old to hang out. The homeless, alcohol and drug addicts also like to hang out, especially in the vicinity of the ship port. From time to time different groups get in each other’s hair. This also happened at the end of May last year.

At the subsequent hearing at the Feldkirch Regional Court, the public prosecutor’s office accused the following facts: “The 27-year-old accused hit his opponent with his fists, choked him and slammed the head of the person lying on the ground several times on the concrete”. The victim, a 36-year-old warehouse clerk, thoroughly drunk with 1.8 per mille, suffered a contused skull and a laceration. Aggravated assault is therefore charged.

The accused is only 27 years old, but his penalty card already shows 21 entries, 18 previous convictions are relevant. Since he has the prerequisites for recidivism, it is a matter of a sentence of up to seven and a half years. The young man is currently serving three and a half years, with a two-year suspended sentence still to come. If convicted, they could be revoked, in addition to further imprisonment. The only positive thing he has to report is that he’s engaged. The dispute in Bregenz once again began with a succinct, verbal argument and ended with brute force. The previous witnesses describe that the attacker was quite aggressive and had to be pulled off the victim by a third party. “He attacked him with a ‘Superman Punch’, my colleague was unconscious, I thought the guy was going to kill him and that’s why I yelled for help,” said the early retiree. The accused admits only a few hits and only after he had been attacked by the victim for no reason.

In addition to the pipeline matter, there is also property damage. The man, who was high on alcohol and benzodiazepines, demanded that his girlfriend drive him home. Since there was no agreement here, he smashed the rear window of her car. In the detention cell he smeared the walls with blood. The 27-year-old had injured his hand and was left alone because he refused medical help.

“I wanted a doctor, the emergency bell was ignored,” claims the accused. Since the only uninvolved witness, a harmless passer-by, has contracted Corona, the trial has to be adjourned. Until then, the brawl remains unsolved. EC
