The Wil city parliament granted loans of 4.27 million francs for a new two-wheeler parking system at Wil train station, 2.24 million francs for the roofing of the opposite stand in the Bergholz stadium and 150,000 francs for a public toilet for the Bergholz playground.

The 2020 invoices from Technischen Betriebe Wil and the City of Wil were postponed to a later meeting at the request of the Audit Commission. The reason for this were unanswered questions regarding the charging of biogas.

The city parliament unanimously approved a loan of 4.27 million Swiss francs for the “Two-wheel parking facility Untere Bahnhofstrasse 1 – 11 (country house area)” project. Marc Flückiger, President of the Building and Transport Commission, explained that the deal had received a great deal of approval in the commission after a brief discussion. This is a starting point for developments at and around Wil train station.

All parliamentary groups also spoke out in favor of the loan. According to Timo Räbsamen (SP), the project is an important first step towards a train station that can be seen. The SP made a recommendation that particular attention should be paid to a high level of security when implementing the project.

This recommendation was clearly accepted. Erwin Böhi (SVP) said that Wil had enough parking spaces for bicycles, but the quality was poor. Christoph Gehrig (CVP), Michael Sarbach (GRÜNE prowil) and Manuela Ebneter (FDP-glp) also said that this would upgrade the station area

City Councilor Ursula Egli, Head of the Building, Environment and Transport Department, was delighted with the positive reception of the proposal. She emphasized that safety in the bicycle parking facility, as required by the SP’s recommendation, is of great importance. A lot is planned, such as cameras, enough lighting and emergency telephones.
