WIKA is working on buildings with the first earthquake dampening system in Indonesia

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The consortium of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk or KSO LANGUAGE gained trust as an implementation of Package Development 1 JICA Loan IP-576 UGM, SGLC Building (Smart and Green Learning Center) and ERIC (Engineering Research Innovation Center) Faculty of Engineering UGM, Yogyakarta.

The project implementation contract valued at Rp 218.79 billion was signed by
Commitment Making Office on behalf of the Ministry of Education & Culture,
Robby Wijanarko, and on behalf of KSO LANGUAGE Yulianto, Thursday (19/11/2020).

WIKA’s Director of Operations III Sugeng Rochadi said he was proud to be part of the development of a world-class university, UGM, to improve social entrepreneurship.

Insha Allah“This project can be completed on time with satisfactory quality,” said Sugeng in his statement, Friday (20/11/2020).

This project is targeted to be completed in 540 working days, with a maintenance period of 360 working days.

The scope of work of WIKA’s KSO includes structure, architecture, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

The project, which is located in Bulak Sumur, is a follow-up to UGM on the Implementation Unit (Implementing Agency) in accordance with loan agreement No. IP-576 Year 2017 between JICA and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia.

The implementation of the JICA loan is used for the construction and provision of infrastructure facilities on the UGM campus which is spread over 8 faculties.

KSO WIKA adopts a building concept with earthquake dampening technology and IT in the construction process, and puts forward partnership synergy in its construction.

“We will apply earthquake dampening technology with a system viscoelastis vibration rubbers dampers first in Indonesia, “said Sugeng.

One of the things that is taken into consideration and mitigation calculations is the earthquake prone area in Yogyakarta.

Viscoelastis vibration rubbers dampers itself is a vibration control system (damper) consisting of tension reinforcing poles and rubber viscoelastic which has a high hardness.

The rubber here is high hardness rubber and has the properties of large stiffness, small temperature and frequency dependence compared to most dampers viscoelastic the usual.

The tension force applied to the reinforcing posts reduces the small gaps in the joint parts and this system has the performance to absorb energy in the micro to large amplitude range.
