Trine Marie Hansen is Jonas Vingegaard’s partner and mainstay. She is 11 years older than him. She is also his manager, mental coach and press officer.
“I would say that the people close to him always feel his warmth. He is loving and caring,” says Trine Marie Hansen. “He supports everyone around him, including his team.”
“If I were the same age as Jonas, I wouldn’t know the learning process I went through,” Hansen says. “I also studied leadership and motivation.”
Hansen found that her boyfriend often found it difficult to control his nerves. “At first I didn’t think it was my role to coach him, but I saw that he continued to struggle with it. So we came up with a plan: embrace that nervousness instead of fearing it.”

There is development as a rider, but also as a person. Hansen played a major role in Vingegaard’s young life.
“I thought he should become a grown man, because I needed a sparring partner,” she continues. “I told him to start reading the papers. So that we could talk about something other than the race.”
In addition, they have started the renovation of their own house together.
“Doing the many chores around the house made him realize that he was good at things other than cycling. I said, you have to start believing that you are as good as you are.”
With Le Grand Départ in Denmark, the Danish “hygge” (joy of life) splashed off the screen.
“We celebrate life very often. We love life. There is a lot of hugging and kissing in our house. We show our love all the time.”
