Today at 5.30 p.m., Wiesbaden-based director Nadine Zacharias will present her award-winning documentary “FITNESS CALIFORNIA – How to go the extra mile” at the Caligari Filmbühne.
The wrestling idols Adolf Seger, Bernd Fleig and Mario Sabatini, who are still linked to each other today by a fierce and funny rivalry and deep friendship, shook up the national and international wrestling scene in the 1960s and 70s – a golden age for German wrestling. When they retired in the early 80s, they enthusiastically surfed the Californian fitness wave and founded the “California” fitness studio in Freiburg in the style of Schwarzenegger. To this day, the seventy-somethings, who have never lost touch with reality despite their enormous successes, live for the sport and lead the extremely diverse California clientele – from amateur athletes to para world champions – every day with a constant good mood and great social commitment.
In 2023, the documentary film “FITNESS CALIFORNIA – How to go the extra mile” was awarded the “Best Feature Film” prize at the Lichter Filmfest Frankfurt International. (dif/Photo organizer)
