Wiener Schnitzel is number one on Instagram – Life

Not only in the pub, but also on social media, the schnitzel is a treat.

Photographing the food before it is eaten has become a habit for many restaurant visitors. A particularly popular motif is the Wiener Schnitzel – with 126,392 hashtags on Instagram. Analysts from Thuisbezorgd.nl have now taken a closer look at which dishes are most popular in which countries.

In Austria, yeast dumplings come second after Wiener Schnitzel. These are mentioned 24,785 times on Instagram. Tafelspitz came in third place with 23,192 hashtags, and fried chicken took fourth place with 7,832 Instagram mentions. Minced patties made it to fifth place.

Pizza is number one in the world

The dishes analyzed include the beef soup (1767 hashtags), the farmer’s feast (544), the Burgenland cabbage strudel (507) – and far behind the potato idei (fried potato noodle from Salzburg) with 44 mentions. The Klachelsuppe tends to get drunk: with just three mentions, it brings up the rear on Instagram.

From a global perspective, the Wiener Schnitzel is surpassed by the pizza. In Europe alone, pizza photos have been posted more than 86 million times on Instagram. In the US, the burger dominates with over 33 million hashtags. In Japan, the sushi with 45 million Instagram mentions.
