Officials of the Meidling city police command were alarmed by the mother of a 20-year-old man, who said that he was in a psychological emergency. The police entered the apartment, where the 20-year-old was just going into the kitchen and picking up a pair of household scissors about 20 cm long.
After he launched the attack and took a step towards the police officers, they had to draw their service weapons. The 20-year-old complied to a loud request to drop the scissors, but he is said to have started screaming and fighting wildly.
The police finally managed to fix the man and take him to a hospital for further treatment.
