The accident took place on the national road 434, leading from Śrem towards Kórnik, just before the village of Czmoń.
– The policemen were chasing the car in which the perpetrators of the robbery on a woman, which took place shortly before in Śrem, were driving. At some point, on the curve of the road, they began to overtake a column of cars, hit a Peugeot car driving in the opposite direction, then bounced off the car and fell under a tractor unit with a semi-trailer. As a result of this incident, the car burst into flames – said the spokesman of the Greater Poland Police, Jr. Andrzej Borowiak.
As he added, the policemen managed to get one person out of this car, he is seriously injured, currently being resuscitated. He is a foreigner of Georgian nationality. The police confirm that there are fatalities, but do not provide their number due to the ongoing activities of experts at the wreckage of the car.
The website remiza.com.pl informs that three people died from the delivery vehicle as a result of the accident.
According to the information provided by the police, the Peugeot driver was injured in the incident, while the truck driver was fine.
