Regional products and organic farming are not superficial trend terms here, but part of the DNA. The guest tastes that with every glass: That Local was awarded by the German Wine Institute and got top marks from the pleasure magazine “Falstaff”. Even the Michelin Guide recognized the high quality of the widows’ ball.

It is easy to fall in love with the restaurant – over and over again. It starts with the tasteful furnishings: even after hours you don’t want to get up from the upholstered red chairs or the soft bench. The seats at the huge marble counter are also great.

The airy room dividers, the wallpaper decorated with clouds and the fine lighting structure the room so skillfully that you never feel lost despite its size. In front of the entrance to the corner building, additional seats attract guests and transform the Hanseatic forecourt into a hotspot with a Mediterranean flair. Because of the “cool northern lights”!

Wine is available by the glass or as a bottle: The more than 30 open wines and around 300 bottles of wine come mainly from Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Portugal and South Africa. Anyone who feels overwhelmed by this selection can get help: The waiters know which drop goes with which dish. They explain this in a language that really everyone understands – even without a VHS course to become a sommelier. It is true that Weidenallee is really not lacking in great restaurants, bistros and bars. But the widows’ ball in particular shines far beyond the Eimsbüttel border.

Anyone who would like to support the Widows’ Ball team in the difficult time of the corona pandemic and the current lockdown can receive a voucher from the initiative #PayNowEatLater and thus help the restaurant to survive the crisis.
